Focal
point
This
garden on the edge of the Chiltern Hills was an open slope of lawn falling
away to a dark corner with no focal point or feature of interest. The
change of level created by the railway sleeper "wall" gives
a sense of space, a point of interest and another "room" beyond
the arch. The standing stone water feature can be seen from the sitting
room windows through the arch and at night is illuminated by lights hidden
in the sleeper wall, giving a wonderful nightscape view.
